Abstract

Prospective brides are a strategic target group in preconception health preparation. The development of information technology has made social media one of the accessible sources of midwifery education; however, uncontrolled exposure to information may affect the psychological condition of prospective brides, including their level of anxiety in facing pregnancy. This study aimed to determine the relationship between exposure to social media-based midwifery education and anxiety levels among prospective brides in facing pregnancy. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 prospective brides selected using total sampling technique at Puskesmas Biromaru. Data were collected using a social media-based midwifery education exposure questionnaire and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), then analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that most respondents (60.0%) had a high level of exposure to social media-based midwifery education, and most respondents (40.0%) experienced mild anxiety. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between exposure to social media-based midwifery education and anxiety levels in facing pregnancy (p = 0.013; rho = -0.451), with a negative direction indicating that higher exposure to educational media was associated with lower anxiety levels. Health workers are recommended to utilize verified social media content as a midwifery education medium to reduce anxiety levels among prospective brides in facing pregnancy.
