Analysis Of Non-Medical Waste Management System At Kabelota Donggala Regional General Hospital

Abstract

Introduction: Hospital waste management in Indonesia still faces obstacles, causing environmental and health impacts. A sustainable management system is needed, especially the non-medical waste processing process at Kabelota Donggala Regional Hospital, including sorting, containerization, transportation and final processing. Method: The type of research method used is a qualitative type aimed at describing the non-medical waste management system at Kabelota Donggala Regional Hospital, this research was conducted through observation and interview methods with six informants which were carried out from November to December 2024. Results: The results of the study indicate that sorting, containerization, and storage of waste at the TPS are not up to standard, while transportation and final processing are in accordance with Permenkes No. 7 of 2019. Therefore, improvements and special attention are still needed from the hospital regarding facilities, infrastructure, and processes for managing non-medical waste. Conclusion: The conclusion of the study shows that non-medical waste management at Kabelota Donggala Regional Hospital is not fully appropriate, especially at the stages of sorting, containerization, and storage at the TPS, while transportation and final processing are appropriate. It is recommended that the hospital increase human resource capacity and improve supporting infrastructure.
