Abstract

Clean water is essential in hospital services because it supports hygiene, sanitation, clinical activities, room cleaning, and food service operations. Poor water quality may increase microbiological contamination risks and reduce the quality of hospital environmental health. Objective: This study aimed to describe the clean water quality of Tora Belo Regional Hospital, Sigi Regency, in 2024–2025 and formulate strategies to optimize sustainable clean water monitoring management. Methods: This study used a descriptive quantitative design based on secondary clean water testing data from seven sampling points: Bak Induk, Cemara 1, CSSD, Laboratory, Operating Room, Nutrition Unit, and Ebony in 2024 and 2025. Parameters included turbidity, total dissolved solids, nitrate, nitrite, pH, MPN Escherichia coli, and MPN Coliform. The results were compared with water quality standards based on Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023. Results: Of 98 parameter results, 74 results (75.5%) met the standard and 24 results (24.5%) did not. All nitrate and nitrite results met the standard. The main problem was microbiological quality: MPN E. coli failed in 9 of 14 samples (64.3%), and MPN Coliform failed in 11 of 14 samples (78.6%). The best result was found at the CSSD point in 2025, where all parameters met the standard. The highest Coliform value was found in the Laboratory point in 2024 at 438 MPN/100 ml, while the highest E. coli value was found in the Operating Room point in 2024 at 95 MPN/100 ml. Conclusion: The physical and chemical quality of clean water at Tora Belo Regional Hospital was generally adequate, but microbiological quality remains the main priority issue. Strengthening monitoring management through risk mapping, regular testing, scheduled disinfection, distribution network maintenance, documentation, and rapid corrective actions is needed.
